Bank statement in.
BAS draft out.
YellowBAS reads your bank statements, sorts the lines for you to check, asks about anything unclear, and gives you a draft BAS and an Excel report for your accountant.
Made for tradies, and for whoever helps with the paperwork.

Works with almost every Australian bank.
CommBank, Westpac, ANZ, NAB and most other Australian banks, plus PayPal, Wise and Revolut. Drop them all in at once: each account becomes one line that shows which dates of the quarter it covers, so a missing month stands out.
Works with PDF, CSV, Excel, OFX and QIF files.
Your statements are read on your device.
How to use it
- Press Add documents, or drag your files onto the page.
- Add every account and card for the quarter.
- Lines that appear in two files are counted once.
- Banks and cards come first, then PayPal, Stripe and other payment platforms, then payroll and receipts.
Snap it. It's on your computer.
Scan a QR code and take receipt photos with your phone. They're locked (encrypted) on the phone, and only your page can open them.
How to use it
- On step 1, press Receipts on your phone? Scan a QR code.
- Scan it with your phone camera.
- Take photos. They appear on the computer.
Business or personal? Just tap.
Only the lines it can't be sure about are asked, one at a time, in plain words. Spent on yourself from the business account? That's fine. It just doesn't go in your BAS.
For a sole trader it's drawings. For a company it's a director loan. Not sure? It waits in your report for your accountant.
How to use it
- Open Review.
- Answer each card, then press Save and next.
- After the last one, All expenses opens by category so you can check everything.
Business or personal?
Knows . Asks about .
Each line goes into a column with its GST, for you to check: from the shop name, the rules you set, and what other YellowBAS users confirmed for the same shop. Pick your kind of work and the columns match it.
Transfers between your own accounts are found and left out.
How to use it
- Choose your kind of work in the Business box.
- Open Review: most lines are already sorted.
- Change a line and press Always to teach it for next time.
Every expense, grouped by category.
After the questions you see the whole quarter by category, biggest first: how much went on Materials, Fuel, Phone, with the GST under each amount. Something looks off? Tap the category and its lines open.
Prefer one long list? Switch to Every line by date.
How to use it
- Open Review and choose All expenses.
- Tap a category, or its round arrow, to see its lines.
- Change a line's column or GST right there.
Receipts beside the right payment.
Photos, screenshots or PDF invoices. Shop, date, total, GST and ABN are read on your device. Each receipt is matched to the payment with the same amount, with dates up to five days apart, and the GST printed on the receipt is used.
A card receipt with no payment is flagged, so you see what's missing. How matching works →
How to use it
- Add receipts with your statements.
- Open a line to see its receipt, or link one yourself.
- Your report shows the receipt next to each expense.
In your accountant's layout.
One Excel file with every line, its column, GST and receipt. Load your accountant's own spreadsheet once, and each quarter fills it in their layout.
How to use it
- On BAS & export, press Download Excel report.
- Have a template? Add it under Accountant's report template.
- Send the file. Done.
Start with last quarter's report.
Have the Excel report from last quarter? Add it with your statements. YellowBAS reads which supplier went in which column and sorts this quarter the same way, so you get far fewer questions.
Everything you answer is remembered too: your columns, your rules, your accountant's layout and the shops you sorted with Always. They stay in this browser, so next quarter starts where this one ended.
New computer? Save a settings file, or turn on encrypted sync.
How to use it
- On Add documents, add last quarter's report under Accountant's report template.
- Add this quarter's statements as usual.
- When you change a line, press Always so it's remembered.
The numbers for your BAS form.
Your total sales, the GST on them, the GST you claim back, and wages if you pay staff. Each figure shows the lines it came from, so you or your accountant can check it.
It's a draft: you lodge it, or your accountant does. YellowBAS does not lodge with the ATO.
How to use it
- Go to BAS & export.
- Check the figures and the notes next to them.
- Copy them into ATO Online services, or send them to your accountant.
Payouts after fees, sorted properly.
Stripe, PayPal, Shopify, Square and Uber pay you less their fees, so your bank only shows the payout. Counting just the payout puts your sales too low and loses the GST on the fees. Add the platform's own report and YellowBAS counts your full sales in G1 and the fees as an expense, with GST where the platform charges it. The bank payouts are not counted twice.
For online shops, marketplace sellers, rideshare drivers and anyone paid by card online.
How to use it
- Add your bank statement as usual.
- Add the platform's file: Stripe tax invoice or payout report, PayPal, Shopify or Square CSV, Uber Tax Summary.
- No platform file yet? YellowBAS shows which payouts are after fees and where to download the file.
More things it can doLong receipts · AI for new shops · your settings on every device
Long receipt? Take a few screenshots.
A receipt in an app or an email is often longer than your screen. Scroll and take screenshots, or photograph a long paper receipt in parts. YellowBAS sees they belong together and joins them into one receipt, in the right order, with one total.
Crumpled in a pocket, faded, folded in four? The photo is cleaned first: the paper is cut out of the table, fold shadows are flattened and the text is read several times. Most crumpled receipts come out fine; if one doesn't, Fix with AI reads its text again. We still don't recommend crumpling them. Your accountant doesn't either.
How to use it
- Add the screenshots or photos together, top part first if you can.
- Parts of one receipt join by themselves; or press Join with the receipt above.
- Check the total and confirm.
Never seen a shop? Ask AI.
For a shop YellowBAS doesn't know yet, AI suggests the column. Only the shop name goes. No amounts, no dates, no files, nothing kept, no training.
You check every suggestion. Once enough people confirm a shop, YellowBAS knows it by itself and doesn't ask AI again.
Receipt photo read badly? Press Fix with AI on it: only the text read from it goes, with card numbers and names taken out, never the photo.
How to use it
- Sign in. Free up to 300 shops or receipts a month.
- On Review, press Sort with AI.
- Check the lines marked AI, then apply.
Only shop names went - no amounts or dates. Once 5 people confirm a shop, everyone gets it without AI.
Your settings follow you. Only you can read them.
Turn on sync and your rules, columns and template come with you to your phone and other computers. They're locked on your device before they leave it, so we cannot read them. Amounts, statements and receipts never sync.
Moving a whole draft? Continue on another device sends it in a one-time locked link that works for 15 minutes.
How to use it
- Sign in, then press Sync my settings (encrypted) in the Business box.
- Save your recovery key, ideally in a password manager.
- On another device, unlock with your passkey or the key.

G1Total sales
All your sales for the quarter, including GST. GST-free sales (like most health services and basic food) are in it too.
1AGST on sales
The GST you collected from customers and pay to the ATO. Usually one eleventh of your taxable sales.
1BGST credits
The GST included in your business purchases, which you claim back. Only for business use, and only with a tax invoice for purchases over $82.50.
W1 · W2Wages and PAYG withheld
W1 is the gross wages you paid this quarter. W2 is the tax you held back from them and pay to the ATO. Only if you have staff (or pay yourself wages from a company).
DrawingsSole traders
Money you take from the business for yourself, like groceries or rent at home. Not an expense and no GST credit, so it stays out of your BAS. Completely normal.
Director loanCompanies
A company's money is not the director's. Personal spending from the company account is a loan to the director: pay it back, or your accountant treats it as wages or a dividend (Division 7A).
TPARBuilders, cleaners, couriers…
The Taxable payments annual report. Businesses in building and construction, cleaning, courier, IT, security and some others tell the ATO each year what they paid their contractors. It's due by 28 August.
GST-freeNo GST in the price
Some things have no GST: most fresh food, many health and medical services, some education. You can't claim GST credits on them, and GST-free sales add nothing to 1A.
Business sharePart business, part personal
A phone or car used half for work: claim only the business share, say 50%, of the cost and of its GST.
Cash or accrualWhen to count it
Most small businesses report on a cash basis: a sale counts when you are paid, an expense when you pay. Accrual counts them when invoiced.
