Every receipt finds its bank line

Drop your bank statements and receipt photos in together. YellowBAS matches each receipt to its payment, claims the GST printed on the receipt and flags what is missing. All on your device: nothing is uploaded.

Before and after

By hand

  • Hold each receipt next to the statement and look for the amount.
  • Guess the GST as one eleventh, even when part of it is GST-free.
  • Find the missing receipts the night before the BAS is due.
  • Pay the accountant to sort what does not match.

With YellowBAS

  • Each receipt is linked to its bank line automatically.
  • The GST on the receipt is used, to the cent.
  • Card receipts with no payment and payments with no receipt are easy to see.
  • The Excel report shows the receipt next to every line it covers.

How it works

1

Add everything

Bank statements (CSV, OFX or PDF) and receipts: photos, screenshots, PDF invoices. Or send photos from your phone with a QR code.

2

Receipts are read

Shop, date, total, GST and ABN are read from each receipt on your device. Several screenshots of one receipt are joined.

3

Matched and checked

Each receipt is linked to its payment and its GST is used. You check the few that need a decision, then download the report and BAS draft.

How a match is decided

Questions

How does YellowBAS match receipts to bank lines?

Each receipt is matched to a payment with exactly the same amount (to the cent) within 5 days of the receipt date; if several payments fit, the closest date wins. A receipt paid by cheque is matched to a cheque line within 45 days. You can change any match by hand, and YellowBAS remembers it.

What happens to a receipt with no bank line?

A cash receipt becomes an expense of its own. A card receipt with no matching payment is flagged, so you can check whether that card's statement is loaded. A receipt paid with the director's own card is kept apart, and YellowBAS shows whether the company has paid it back.

Why does the GST on the receipt matter?

Not everything on a receipt carries GST. When a receipt is attached, YellowBAS claims the GST printed on it instead of one eleventh of the payment. For example, $110 of tyres with $4.50 GST claims $4.50, not $10.

Are my statements and receipts uploaded?

No. Statements and receipt photos are read and matched in your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded to or stored on our server.

Which receipts can I add?

Photos (creased ones too), screenshots from store apps (several screenshots of one receipt are joined into one), and PDF invoices. Bank statements as CSV, OFX, QIF or PDF from all major Australian banks.

Does it work with Australian banks?

Yes: CommBank, NAB, Westpac, ANZ, St.George, Bankwest, Bendigo, Suncorp, ING, BOQ, Macquarie, Up and more, plus Stripe, PayPal, Shopify and Square.
