Statements and receipts are read right here, in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to or stored on any server.
Upload it first, for example last quarter's expenses report. This quarter's lines go into its columns, including its own ones such as "Cleaning", and the lines it already has teach YellowBAS where each supplier goes.
Bank & payment statements
Banks and cards, plus PayPal, Stripe, Square, Shopify or Uber if you use them.
No statements yet.
Receipts
Cash and cheque receipts are added as expenses; card receipts are attached to their bank line. Receipts that read cleanly go in by themselves; the ones marked Needs a look wait for you.
Accountant's report template optional
Upload the Excel file your accountant gives you (for example last quarter's expenses report). YellowBAS fills it with this quarter's lines in the same layout. Without one, the standard YellowBAS layout is used.
Where to get the files · banks we read
Banks that work today CSV, OFX, QIF or PDF statement
Payment platforms fees and gross sales from their CSV or invoice, payouts in the bank are not counted twice
Another bank? Try its CSV first: most Australian banks use one of the layouts above. If a PDF does not add up, YellowBAS shows the exact line where the balance breaks.
Best: CSV or OFX
Internet banking → the account → Export or Download transactions → CSV (or OFX / Quicken). Pick the whole quarter. NAB CSV also brings NAB's own categories, so fewer lines need review.
Also fine: PDF statement
The official monthly or quarterly statement. Every line is checked against the opening, running and closing balance, and several accounts in one PDF are split.
Stripe, PayPal, Shopify, Square
Stripe: monthly tax invoice (PDF) or Balance report CSV. PayPal: Activity → Download CSV, or the monthly statement. Shopify / Square: Payments → transactions CSV.
Receipts & invoices
Photos, screenshots from store apps (several screenshots of one receipt are joined) or the PDF invoice (most accurate). The supplier's ABN is checked; tick "not registered for GST" when the invoice has no GST.
Accountant's Excel
Upload last quarter's report from your accountant: YellowBAS fills the same layout, and any changes the accountant made become rules for next time.
Private by design
Statements and receipts are read in your browser on this device and are not uploaded. Phone photos are encrypted on the phone and deleted from the server as soon as this page picks them up.
